I earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership at Regent University and hold a Masters in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary. I have a B.A. in Organizational Management from Warner Southern.

My name is Dr. Rol Erickson and I will be your professor for this course. I am confident that you will find the material that we cover interesting, relevant, and challenging. We will be examining a diverse range of scholarly perspectives relating to leadership theory but most importantly we will be interpreting these perspectives through a Christian worldview using scripture as our guide.

Over the years I have served in a variety of non-for profit organizations. During that time it was my experience was that many if not most of the challenges faced by these organizations could be linked to leadership issues. Thus my interest in leadership began.

For over eight years I’ve had the privilege of serving as a missionary and then later as a consultant for a mission organization for several years. One of my passions during that time period was leadership development and I have had the privilege in working with young emerging leaders in rural church plants to supporting seasoned leaders in large established churches. At another time in my life I served as a minister of pastoral care in a mega church in Florida. For over a decade I also had an independent consulting business with clients that included Kodak’s photo finishing plant Qualex, training for corporate McDonald’s managers, but primarily smaller business with fifty employees or less. I have taught as an adjunct for a decade and for the last four years have also taught full time as an Associate Professor of Business.

I was raised in a nominal Christian church and learned about God but never knew Him on a personal basis. As a young adult I became more aware of an emptiness in my inner person and begin in earnest to pursue God. On day while reading Revelation about the Lamb of God opening the Book of Life the Holy Spirit convicted me that I was a sinner separate from God. I fell to my knees and asked forgiveness for my sins and committed my life to serving Christ.

Paul reminded the Corinthians that they were “living epistles” to be read by “all men” as a letter to the world written by Christ because of the indwelling Spirit.  My personal relationship with Christ is the source of my values and norms for conduct.  Stemming from this relationship I rely on God’s Word, which I believe to be inerrant and infallible, to support, validate, and interpret the reality of the universe and its Creator.  I support the position that all truth is God’s truth, and that nothing in this universe is inconsistent with His Word if understood through the guidance of His Holy Spirit. It is this guidance that I rely upon to support students to apply their newly acquired academic insights and skills from a Christian perspective. I value and respect the diverse range in God’s creation including other persons who may not share my personal Christian beliefs and values and believe that all persons should be treated with dignity. I have discovered over the years that in doing so one can gain the respect of students who may not know Christ and to be instrumental in leading them to Him.
