Financial Aid Estimator Questions:

State of legal residence?

Select the two letter code that represents the state in which you primarily reside.

Filing the FAFSA?

The FAFSA is the primary aid application nationally. Submitting the application electronically at www.fafsa.gov by your state deadline is very helpful for state aid eligibility consideration.

When will you likely begin school?

Give an estimate of when you intend to begin your academic program. The starting date of your studies could impact your aid eligibility. This tool adjusts the aid estimate based upon date, but it is important to keep in mind that this is just an estimate.

Will you be taking classes online?

Answer “Yes” if the majority of your courses will be taken online, rather than in-person at an IWU facility or designated location. IWU offers many of our programs entirely online. Several thousand students appreciate this convenience. Because online students do not normally need to travel for classes, the estimated cost of attendance is adjusted. Also, only Indiana residents may qualify for state aid when taking online classes.

Expected Family Contribution (as determined from your FAFSA application).

This code number comes as a result of completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) drives much of your aid eligibility. It is usually consistent between schools, so you may use your EFC as calculated by an actual FAFSA, derived from another estimating tool or use our calculator link to estimate your EFC.

Are you an active member of the Armed Forces?

IWU gives a tuition discount for active duty military personnel. Answer “Yes” to this question if you are currently serving in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Will you be receiving tuition reimbursement for your classes from your employer or another source?

Many employers offer tuition assistance. If you will be receiving such assistance from your employer or another source, indicate the amount in the questions that follow. If you are unsure, answer “No” now, but check with your employer about this possibility.

Will you be receiving Vocational Rehabilitation Educational Benefits?

The federal and state governments may team up to offer assistance to help pay your college expenses if you qualify through this program. If you anticipate receiving such a benefit, indicate the amount in the questions that follow.

What is the total value of scholarships you will use for IWU tuition?

Scholarships are a great way to pay for your education. Private scholarships are not just for traditional age students, so take the time to pursue some free scholarship options through searches on the internet, reference books at your local library or through other means. Show the amount of any scholarships you have already qualified for in this answer.

Are you going to pursue the Associates in Ministry program?

We offer tuition assistance to pastors who pursue this major. Answer “Yes” to the questions that follow if you are a current pastor serving at a church or through appointment with the Wesleyan denomination. Documentation of current service will be needed at the time you start classes.
