Financial Aid Estimator Questions:

State of legal residence?

Filing the FAFSA?

The FAFSA is the primary aid application nationally. Submitting the application electronically at by your state deadline is very helpful for state aid eligibility consideration.

When will you likely begin school?

Give an estimate of when you intend to begin your academic program. The starting date of your studies could impact your aid eligibility. This tool adjusts the aid estimate based upon date, but it is important to keep in mind that this is just an estimate.

Will you be taking classes online?

Answer “Yes” if the majority of your courses will be taken online, rather than in-person at an IWU facility or designated location. IWU offers many of our programs entirely online. Several thousand students appreciate this convenience. Because online students do not normally need to travel for classes, the estimated cost of attendance is adjusted. Also, only Indiana residents may qualify for state aid when taking online classes.

Expected Family Contribution (as determined from your FAFSA application).

This code number comes as a result of completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) drives much of your aid eligibility. It is usually consistent between schools, so you may use your EFC as calculated by an actual FAFSA, derived from another estimating tool or use our calculator link to estimate your EFC.
